A Day in the Life of Ukraine 2

05/05/2012

Nikita Yazov, Sevastopol

At last came the fifth of May. It was a difficult day. What do you think, what happened?

Right. Today I had a competition in fighting. It was a tough competition. It was the championship of Ukraine. Many participants came to the championship to Sevastopol from other cities. I knew that I would fight with Odessities and my friends from Sevastopol. The competition started at ten o’clock. I was looking at the Odessites, I understood that they had a bad shock technique but they were good at wrestling. So I went on to the ring, and opposite me was a boy from Odessa. I won this fight. But a minute later I was again called to the ring, and we were given an additional minute to fight. Unfortunately, I lost. But I’m not upset.

My second fight started, and I won. It was a quickest victory in the championship: I won in 25 seconds. My first opponent had already won the third fight in a row. Now my third fight started. I won this fight.

The competition finished; I won second place. It was my first competition, and I was very glad. I was awarded the second place medal, and as I was the person who had the shortest fight and won it, I was given a special prize – two wonderful books about the Olympic games and Olympic champions.

The day was really wonderful!!
